Radio LibertyRomania

Radio Liberty Romania was a branch of the U.S.-funded Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe network, which broadcast news, information, and analysis to countries behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War. Its programming targeted Romania and was transmitted from a facility in Playa de Pals, Spain, starting in the 1950s. The station aimed to counter communist propaganda and provide uncensored information to Romanian audiences. The Playa de Pals site ceased operations in 2001, marking the end of its broadcasts. The station played a key role in promoting free speech and democratic values during a time of political repression in Eastern Europe.
