Detailed Introduction
Free FM was a network of talk radio stations in the United States launched by CBS Radio in 2005 as a replacement for many of its rock music stations. The format primarily featured hot talk and talk shows aimed at a younger, male demographic. The network was introduced as part of a response to Howard Stern's departure to satellite radio, with Free FM hosting a mix of local and syndicated programming. However, the format struggled to gain widespread success, and many Free FM stations eventually reverted to music or other formats by 2007-2009. The brand is now largely defunct.
